Reviews
The Sundowner has a relaxing atmosphere, and their staff are friendly. Their menu is quite diverse whether you're a Vegan, Vegetarian or a meat eater they have you covered. The meals taste great and are well priced. They also are one of the rare places with a self serve bay Marie with a fantastic selection of hot and cold side dishes. Be warned, don't go crazy on that as their meals are very generous and you will need a take-home container. If you wish to treat yourself by going out for a meal try the Sundowner you will not be disappointed.
Just gonna keep this short. Wasn’t happy with our night out. My husband and I went in tonight (31/12/2023) and we were not impressed. Booked a table for 5:30 so we got there 10 minutes early we had been nicely greeted and sat. We ordered drinks straight away then our meals so by then it was 5:30. It then took “30 minutes” for us to get our garlic bread then 10 minutes after we got our meals which I did not enjoy at all. Was the worse experience I’ve had at sundowner. Considering it was just us in there for around 10 minutes we should have had our meals sooner.
A group of us went for dinner and the meal itself was ok , I had the crumbed fish it was nice but the salad bar left a lot to be desired. Three types of pasta, 2 bowls of beetroot, 1 bowl of watermelon and 1 bowl of tossed salad. No coleslaw, every salad bar needs coleslaw!
Salad food is cheap at the moment so the salads on offer were very poor .
Very disappointed. Have visited this restaurant many times and have been impressed each time but NOT this time.
Drinks sat on the bar for 25min so were warm by the time we received them, and we didn't get them together ended up going up to the bar and collecting them. Food order was wrong and cold when it arrived. Did complain but I think I waisted my breath
Won't be back.
From the first phone call, to arriving and being greeted by the lovely receptionist, everything just flowed from beginning to the end.
The restaurant staff just wonderful, very efficient and polite, and loved how they didn't bother you whilst eating but when passing our table just a smile and a everything ok which was lovely.10/10.
From arriving to departing, the whole experience was awesome. The staff were so helpful, friendly and welcoming, like we were regulars, everyone looked after us so well, after a long couple of days on the motorbike from Perth, it was nice …
It was OK but we went on a Saturday night very busy took over half an hour to get food food was average, they sell bigger shnitzels at Coles than you get here ,salad and veg bar was good staff where also good
My girlfriends and i had a night out in the restaurant on Friday night. The service was very good and our waiter, although busy was attentive to our needs. The food was great, I had barramundi with Jerusalem artichoke puree and artichoke crisps, mushroom crisps brocollini and the skin of the barramundi was also crispy. I've not had such a well presented and tasty meal at a bistro like this before 10/10. I would definitely order it again, its just a shame I don't live in Whyalla. My friends all had different dishes and all talked about how good they were. They come here often and have always had a good experience dining there.
